ENTJ: The Commander

ENTJs (extraverted, intuitive, thinking, and judging) are leaders by their very nature. They tend to be confident and charismatic, and can bring people together to face a single, shared goal. Of course, this can mean that ENTJs can be remorselessly rational, setting themselves to complete a task with a dogged determination and drive that can result in some marginalisation towards more timid and sensitive types. Nevertheless, ENTJs are likely to be great achievers and assert their presence in anything they set their mind, heart, and soul.

principles

ENTJs are often leaders, organisers, and logical decision-makers. They tend to be excellent planners, abstract thinkers, and problem solvers, known for leading the charge for action. Their enthusiasm and motivation for great achievement fuel their professional career. The ENTJ is characteristically direct, and while they may not show much emotion themselves, they are aware of others' feelings and can navigate them with practice.

Because of the high standards they set for themselves, their weaknesses usually come in the form of impatience and intolerance, but only when those around them aren't as driven to succeed as they are.

• They are one of the most driven of all personality types

• They can see the big picture, formulate a plan of attack, and execute that plan

• They are relentless

• They know their worth

strengths

determination

What sets the ENTJ apart from others is the fortitude to follow through where others stumble. The ability to set emotion aside to make rational and logical decisions helps the ENTJ stay focused on the big picture goal, regardless of how they may feel at the time. The ENTJ never lets how they feel stop them from doing what they must.

confidence

Not everyone knows their self-worth, but this isn't a problem for the ENTJ. ENTJs know what they want, the best way to get there, and want to be in charge of others working towards that goal, all because they are so sure of themselves.

masterminds

ENTJs can create a carefully formulated plan to achieve what they desire. While they have grand visions for the future, their plans live grounded in reality and are tailored for action.

outspoken

With self-confidence and creative ideas, it should be no surprise that the ENTJ is proudly outspoken. Their good ideas must be shared, and they do so knowing they can inspire others to follow their charge towards the result.

weaknesses

stubborn

The ENTJ is brimming with confidence, both for themselves and their ideas, and they can put up resistance to the views of others if it doesn't fit with their interpretation. Their passion and determination in defending their ideas cause problems when they are fighting a losing battle. The ENTJ will continue to fight when it would have been more prudent to pick another battle or give a concession.

impatient

The life of the ENTJ is defined by progress and achievement. Waiting for others to make a decision can be agonising for the ENTJ who can make quick, rational decisions based on logic.

demanding

The ENTJ may not see this as a weakness, but those around them can. The high standards that ENTJs set for themselves are also pressed upon their friends, family, and colleagues. More reserved and less-assured personalities may find the ENTJ's expectations overwhelming.

insensitive

The ENTJ is predominantly a logical thinker. They may not always take the emotional impact of their words or actions into consideration. Facts are more important than feelings to the ENTJ, and they can mistakenly assume that all others share this viewpoint.

friendships

ENTJs are natural-born leaders of projects, people, and organisations. To be a friend of theirs, you must also display some of the qualities they see and value in themselves. As extraverts, they often have wide social circles, but their close friends must meet specific criteria. Their friends are not those they happen upon, but people they have carefully chosen to incorporate into their lives because they have a shared love of self-improvement, achievement, or can hold their own in conversations about grand ideas. While the friends of an ENTJ will never doubt the fidelity of their relationship, they may at times feel usurped. The ENTJ is not naturally skilled in reading the emotions of others or in taking into account the emotional reaction of others.
