Welcome to Yes Gurl, a friendship app for women to create genuine, supportive connections.
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have about your data.
1. Who we are
Yes Gurl App is operated by Yes Gurl App LTD, founded by Annette Christian and Francesca Attah.

2. Information we collect
When you use the Yes Gurl app, we collect certain information to help you create your profile, connect safely with others, and improve app performance.
Account details
- Email address and password
- First and last name — your first name is visible to other users; your last name remains private and is only visible to you in your profile settings
- Gender (users must identify as women to proceed)
- Age or date of birth (cannot be changed after entry)
Profile information
- Personality type (based on the 16-personality quiz or self-selection)
- Location (approximate city or region, not GPS)
- Relationship status
- Number of children
- Profile photo (one required)
- Optional “About Me” bio (up to 150 words)
- Personality prompts and answers (up to three)
- Go Offline prompts and answers (up to three)
We do not collect or track precise GPS coordinates.
We also collect a unique device or installation ID to support analytics, app functionality, and error tracking. This ID cannot identify you personally.
App activity
- Chat data (messages sent and received in-app — text only)
- “Link Ups” (group meet-ups created by users), including event name, address, description, date/time, attendee list, and comments
- Ability to join, leave, or share Link Ups
We also collect aggregated app interaction data (such as screen views, button taps, and feature usage) through Firebase Analytics and Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
This helps us understand how people use Yes Gurl and improve design, functionality, and performance.
These analytics do not include message content, names, or email addresses, and they cannot identify individual users.
3. How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Create and manage your account and profile
- Match you with compatible users
- Support in-app messaging and Link Up features
- Display your information (like first name and photo) within the app
- Improve app performance and fix errors through analytics and crash reporting
- Maintain a safe and supportive community environment
We also use Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymised crash reports and performance diagnostics, helping us monitor app stability and fix bugs.
All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS.
Our moderation tools may access limited user content (such as photos or Link Up details) to ensure community safety and prevent misuse.
We use aggregated, anonymised analytics data to understand overall app usage and trends. These insights never identify individual users.
Push notifications
We may send push notifications about new matches, messages, or Link Up activity.
You can turn these off in your device settings or within the Yes Gurl app.
We never use push notifications for marketing or advertising.
We do not sell or share your personal information with advertisers or unrelated third parties.
4. Data storage & security
All data is securely stored using Firebase (by Google). We use:
- Firebase Analytics and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for anonymised usage and performance analytics
- Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting and diagnostics
These tools help us monitor app stability and understand how features perform.
The information collected may include device or installation IDs, app version, event counts (such as screens viewed or buttons clicked), and crash data.
All analytics data is aggregated, pseudonymous, and does not include personal information such as your name, email, or profile content.
5. Managing your data
You can:
- Edit or update most of your personal information in-app at any time
- Delete your account and data within the app
- Request full deletion of your information by emailing app@yesgurl.co.uk
We may verify your identity before processing deletion requests for your security.
Analytics and performance data are collected anonymously and cannot be linked back to your account.
Once deleted, your data is permanently removed from our active systems within a reasonable period. Backup copies are deleted within 30 days.
Certain minimal data may be temporarily retained for fraud prevention or legal compliance.
6. Your choices
You choose what to share. You can:
- Skip non-required profile questions
- Choose which prompts to answer and display
- Delete Link Ups you’ve created
- Remove a connection, which also deletes your chat history with that user
7. Children’s privacy
Yes Gurl is for adults aged 18 and over.
We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
Any account suspected of belonging to someone under 18 will be reviewed and removed.
8. Terms of Use & Community Conduct
At Yes Gurl, we’re committed to maintaining a safe, positive, and empowering environment for women.
By using the app, you agree to follow our Terms of Use and community guidelines:
- You may not post, share, or send any content that is illegal, harmful, harassing, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or otherwise objectionable.
- We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward objectionable content or abusive users.
- Users who violate these terms may have their content removed and their accounts suspended or terminated without notice.
- You are responsible for the content you share and your interactions within the app.
- If you encounter objectionable content or abusive behaviour, please report it directly within the app or email us at app@yesgurl.co.uk. Reports are reviewed promptly and appropriate action will be taken.

9. Updates to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically.
If we make material changes, we’ll notify you via email or in-app.

10. Contact us
All data collected is used solely to operate and improve the Yes Gurl app.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers.

We process your personal data based on:
- Your consent (when you create an account)
- Our legitimate interest in maintaining a safe, functional community
