ESTP: The Entrepreneur

The ESTP (extraverted, observant, thinking, and perceiving) is the soul of the party and loves to be the centre of attention. An ESTP will live life in the moment and revel in an action-packed life, full of adventure and obstacles. Their courage helps them seize opportunities and push the boundaries of life. You will find many people gravitate towards ESTPs due to their charisma and social skills.

principles

The ESTP, also called the entrepreneur, is known for being one of the most outgoing personality types. They are extremely enthusiastic, observant, easily adaptable, and they love to make work fun. ESTPs apply their own experiences to situations to help find solutions and are known for being exceptionally resourceful. However, with their outgoing demeanour they can have difficulty managing their time, and tend to lose interest in long-term, complex projects. With their extraverted personality, ESTPs are action-oriented and love to use logical thinking in all things they do, even though they are also known for being quite dramatic at times.

• Being very analytical, ESTPs love to utilise their resources and solve problems.

• They are outgoing risk-takers who are dedicated to what they are doing. They will always give 100% on any task.

• They love life, being around other people, and living in the moment.

• They are extremely attentive and are always paying attention to what is going on around them.

• They do not enjoy being pinned down, they thrive on spontaneity.

Their courage to boldly be themselves constantly motivates those around them, and often pushes them outside of their comfort zones allowing them an amazing opportunity for growth.

weaknesses

lack of commitment

ESTPs do not enjoy making plans or being committed to anyone or anything long-term. This can make it difficult for others to stick around long-term because they feel their relationship (both friendship and love oriented) will never go beyond a surface level of interaction.

insensitivity

ESTPs tend to focus so much on their partners physical needs, they forget to take the time to hone in on their emotional needs. This can lead ESTPs to unintentionally do and/or say insensitive things to their partners.

desire for independence

ESTPs are sometimes so honed in on their desire for independence, it can lead them to shun authority. They believe they can get things done their own way, and move around long-term accepted structures and ideas.

time management

With their impulsiveness and constant need of adventure, ESTPs are known for lacking in their time management. They do not like to commit to projects, relationships, plans, etc. that require anything long-term. ESTPs will do their best to avoid committing to anything outside the realm of living in the moment or short-term plans/projects.

friendships

ESTP types draw people in with their natural confidence and assertiveness. They are charming, warm, honest, and friendly people who inspire their friends to want to be better, and to live their life in the moment. ESTPs love having a tight knit group of friends, while also being able to have the freedom to do what they want. ESTPs are honest and straightforward in their friendships. When conflict arises, they are direct in saying how they feel and voicing their opinion. They do not like to intervene or to dwell on situations, and expect the same honesty within their friendships.
