New music 4 you: A journal entry from Rowena Fysx

I KNOW. It’s been a minute, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

1. Rowena Fysx – IDFK

I came across this song in the Alt R&B on Apple Music and fell in love with the lyrics. It sounds like a melodic therapeutic journal entry and she’s given us permission to read it. With a silk-like voice, the Toronto singer has this and four other songs on her EP, 3Rr0r.

2. Mamii – Unwary

You know when you’re in the mood to listen to something but don’t exactly know what? Try listening to Unwary from Indiana singer/songwriter/producer, Mamii. The single is a perfect length for replay and is simple yet complex in its orchestra of harmonies.

3. Adria Kain – Ocean

The Toronto based singer/songwriter has released her debut album! The 11 track project includes ‘Classic’, featuring Leila Day about which she states “I’ve recently entered the stage in my life where I finally feel like I can be completely free and whole within myself, especially as a queer, masculine-presenting black woman.

4. Mwasiti – Your Love

The Kenyan born singer AND lawyer infuses Swahili and English on an afrobeat sound with a complimentary saxophone. ‘Your Love’ is the first single from the Newcastle-based artist.
