Recently the UK has been easing out of lockdown and as a result, fashion face masks are now an important staple in my wardrobe. Over the last few weeks I’ve been investing in reusable face masks so I’m less likely to spread droplets that could contribute to the spread of COVID-19.
Non-medical face masks, otherwise known as reusable, fabric or cloth coverings, have been advised for public use. Not only are they a great option now that face masks are mandatory to wear in certain spaces but fabric ones can alleviate the pressure on resources for frontline workers. If we all took it upon us to shift away from the blue surgical masks we see floating around, then there’d be more personal protection equipment for those who really need it.
Wearing a fabric face covering is also far better for the environment. Medical ones are often made of plastic, used once and then disposed of. Although this is necessary for high-risk environments, like hospitals, where frontline workers are tackling the virus first-hand, it isn’t for the everyday girl just popping to the shops. A small change like switching to a cloth face mask can have a huge impact on our planet!

7. Tickle and Thread
Show your support for Black Lives Matter, by wearing a mask embroidered with the black fist sign. Tickle and Thread will be donating £1 for every mask sold to Black Lives Matter UK.

Clothing brand, CAMP Collection, has released fabric masks in their signature 70s nostalgia style. Spread love the hippie way with these positive affirmations.

Larger retailers like Boohoo have also been producing fabric masks. With such a huge selection, we’ve listed some of our favourites!
Tie-dye is everywhere this summer; channel your inner care-free Cali girl with this mask.
If you’re a die-hard Mean Girls fan like me, then carry out the weekly tradition by donning this pink mask. Finish off with a Juicy Couture velour set or a diamante crop top.
